It has been a busy couple of months since I started posting again in my blog back in July. Although I’ve posted several book reviews (thanks for the motivation, Caffeine Book Tours), I meant to post other content that is not book-related.
Taking Stock will be a monthly (fingers crossed!) recap of how the last 30 days in my life have gone. This was inspired by Reese Lansangan’s own post, which she originally got from Meet Me at Mike’s (see the post for the full list!).
October has been a hellish month for me, mainly because I was trying to juggle all the responsibilities of a teacher while trying to form a semblance of equilibrium in my personal life. It hasn’t been going well (work is slowly taking over my life SEND HELP!), but I am hoping that this semestral break will allow me that time to process and organize my priorities in life. Here’s to hoping!
Making: my lesson plan for next term Drinking: water (so exciting) Reading: Pride and Prejudice fanfiction Wanting: to finish work quickly Looking: for motivation and/or enlightenment Playing: chess on my phone Wishing: for contentment and peace of mind Enjoying: my semestral break (I NEED THIS) Waiting: for my Shopee package to arrive Liking: this listing activity Wondering: where to get the motivation to exercise (or do anything tbh) Considering: chucking my phone into the abyss (to avoid distractions) Watching:muchelleb videos Hoping: that people will be more empathetic
Smelling: like smoke and Korean beef Wearing: my ultra comfy Adam Levine shirt Thinking: about buying a 3-in-1 printer Admiring: Dame Julie Andrews Sorting: out my life priorities Buying: BAUM Solid Parfum in Lillian Bookmarking: The Financial Diet articles Disliking: my tendency to procrastinate Feeling: sluggish but slightly hopeful Coveting: Tata Harper Resurfacing Mask (huhu y u so expensive) Wishing: I took more photos to document this month Hearing: the whirring of the electric fan in the background Marvelling: at the generosity and kindness of people Needing: discipline to commit to a routine

I’ve been hearing rave reviews on Rin Chupeco’s books ever since I joined the book blogging world, but I have never had the opportunity to read one of her works… until recently. Reading her work made me incredibly proud as a Filipino and y’all know I am definitely going to buy the rest of her books!

To say that I am excited for this book is an understatement! I love Chinese culture and middle-grade books so this is absolutely perfect for me! Reading books that represent Asians recently has me on a book high. I am really thanking the book gods for blessing me with this opportunity!
Third blog tour and counting! I am really ecstatic that I was able to read and review Maura Milan’s newest novel plus its predecessor, Ignite the Stars. This duology took over my life for several weeks and I am incredibly happy about it.

I have never heard of My Fate According to the Butterfly when I stumbled upon the blog tour announcement for it. I immediately signed up when I learned that 1.) it is written by a Filipina author, and 2.) the story revolves around a Filipino superstition which I rarely hear about being mentioned in books. I consider myself lucky and honored to have been chosen as a participant of the #ButterflyTour. Thank you dear book gods!
The book gods must have smiled down on me because I was selected as one of the participants for Caffeine Book Tours’ blog tour for A Shifting of Stars by Kathy Kimbray! Thank you, Shealea, for organizing this! You can read more about the blog tour here.
