Blog Tour: The Fallen Tour by Katie Zhao | Book review and favorite quotes ðŸ¥®ðŸ¥¡

It has almost been a year since I last posted my review of The Dragon Warrior, which I immensely enjoyed. (You can read my review for that book here.) This is why I am really thankful I was chosen once more to participate in a Katie Zhao book tour with Caffeine Book Tours! The book gods have really blessed me.

You can check out the launch post for this blog tour here.

Disclaimer: I received an Advanced Reader’s Copy of this book from the publisher and Caffeine Book Tours as part of my participation in their tour.

Blog Tour: Vampires of Portlandia by Jason Tanamor | Book review and favorite quotes

I am truly thrilled to be a part of The #AswanginPortlandTour because it is a 100% own-voices Filipino blog tour! How neat is that? When I saw the notification for this and read the blurb, I immediately signed up. I hope to see more books on Philippine mythology!

Taking Stock #1: entering the -ber months

This is my nth time attempting to write and feature a Taking Stock post (made originally by MEET ME AT MIKES) in my blog. It is absolutely surreal that we are in the last quarter of the year. I think most of us feel like we are stuck in this horror film called 2020, where time is both fast and slow at the same time.

But no matter how uncertain the future may be, it’s important for me to reflect, appreciate and “take stock” of the present.

A Review: Reading Atomic Habits by James Clear on Audible ðŸŽ§

The opportunity to read and consume books has drastically changed throughout the years. In the past, you only get to read books by buying one from the bookstore, borrowing one from the library, or being gifted one. This changed when bookstores started going with the times and advertised delivering books at your doorstep. Instagram and Facebook exploded with people selling secondhand books at pretty inexpensive prices. Also, the emergence of the Kindle, its app, and books in PDF and EPUB formats boomed. Acquiring books has never been this easy with just a click of a button. Soon enough, audiobooks were all the rage and you can easily consume a book in just 5 hours, avoiding the usual eye-strain one experiences while reading too much (is there such a thing as reading too much, though?).

Of all the ways that you could get or consume a book, listening to audiobooks has never appealed to me. Sure, I love podcasts and I’m known to listen to an episode or two of the Optimal Living Daily while cleaning, but listening to an entire book seemed off to me. I did try listening to an audiobook of a romance novel I liked, and I cringe every time the narrator’s voice just didn’t fit with my version of how the characters should sound. It’s really weird and it didn’t give me a positive reader experience.

However, my dislike of listening to audiobooks changed when I took advantage of Audible’s free trial and “read” Atomic Habits by James Clear. I’ve been wanting to read this book for forever, but my brain never had room for it each time I attempted to read my eBook copy. I am incredibly happy I made the decision to read it because I can safely say that this book is truly a life-changer.

Blog Tour: The Bone Shard Daughter by Andrea Stewart | Book review and favorite quotes ðŸ¦´

It’s been a long time since I last posted in my blog, but I am just really grateful to have this opportunity to read this epic fantasy by Andrea Stewart. It has bone shard magic, an established sapphic relationship, loyal magical creatures, a smuggler hero, and a dozen mysteries to unearth. Who wouldn’t love that?

Disclaimer: I received a review copy of The Bone Shard Daughter in exchange for an honest review. Thank you, Kate of Your Tita Kate and Orbit Books for this opportunity!
